“Your First Fifteen Minutes Sets the Tone for the Day”
Todd Nuckols
Experts agree that the first hour of your day is the most important for setting the “tone” of your daily attitude. Like everything in the world of 80/20 I don’t think it takes an entire hour. Instead, I believe the First Fifteen minutes guide your daily attitude – good or bad. The problem we encounter is that we do not protect that time and instead we let others set our “tone” or daily “temperature” through a variety of mediums such as:
-
Urgent emails
-
Facebook posts
-
Television
-
Voicemails
-
Radio
What does this mean to you?
You absorb the attitudes (good or bad) of what you expose yourself to in the First Fifteen minutes of your day!
Your plan this week is to write out your First Fifteen “script” to use in the morning. I suggest you execute this plan as close to waking up as possible to avoid external distractions creeping in. I recommend you do this before checking emails, reading news or listening to any possible negativity at all.
This is YOUR First Fifteen so you get to decide when and where you will spend it and what works best within your schedule. The more detail you can include the better and don’t be afraid to experiment until you find what works best with your daily rhythm.
What does your First Fifteen look like?
